Life with horses started for me at a very young age with a series of cheeky ponies! I spent my weekends doing my best to stay on board at PC rallies and out hunting, and at around the age of 10 my love for eventing began. I was lucky enough to own and adore my dream horse, Alfie, and together we had so much fun and success eventing, but by far my favourite moment on horseback has to be sitting on him in a start box while he struggled to contain his excitement. The dream of Leys Farm Livery began years ago with lots of planning, building and saving. It has been a total pleasure to be able to build a purpose built livery yard and welcome our liveries who do a fantastic job of supporting each other while making sure they enjoy their precious time with their horses. We are also incredibly lucky to have a dedicated and enthusiastic team who do a brilliant job maintaining the yard and keeping the ponies happy and cared for.
31 years ago I was asked by my parents what I would like for my 10th birthday. I gave them a couple of options...stick insects or riding lessons and I haven't looked back since. I think my love for horses is truly in my blood. I have had 5 wonderful horses over the years, my 1st being a 24 year old gelding, following by a 6 year old welsh
31 years ago I was asked by my parents what I would like for my 10th birthday. I gave them a couple of options...stick insects or riding lessons and I haven't looked back since. I think my love for horses is truly in my blood. I have had 5 wonderful horses over the years, my 1st being a 24 year old gelding, following by a 6 year old welsh/TB mare who taught me so much. I also rescued one from the waiting meat man, who then went on to work at a riding school, after a bit of hard work and TLC. Finally I got my gorgeous mare, Marika who I had for over 16 years. She was my horse of a lifetime, and she gave me her beautiful homebred daughter, Pia. I obtained a BSc (Hons) in Equine Sports Science & Psychology back in 2006, while also working on a large livery yard in Derbyshire. During that time I also helped organise their first 3 day BE event. It was an amazing experience. I started working at LFL in January 2021. The relaxed, professional, friendly atmosphere and enthusiasm of both staff and liveries make it a pleasure to turn up to work, plus the horses are pretty epic!
I look after the facilities and finance at Leys Farm Livery.
You might catch me restocking hay/straw or pushing up the muckheap, but generally you will only hear from me once a month!
